COURSE OVERVIEW

The Public Speaking and Debate Foundation course introduces students to English public speaking and debate skills, different competitions in primary and secondary schools and universities. This course teaches students English speech behavior and debate skills in the form of rich student exercises and coach reviews, and teaches students how to write persuasive and contagious English speeches and examples of debates under cross-cultural communication.

Learn the secrets of public speaking from Award winning speaking and debate coach.

  • Learn the basics of speech composition, research, and presentational skills.
  • Create outlines for speeches, including impromptu, informative, and persuasive speech assignments.
  • Critique speeches of other students, both in person (via Zoom) and by video evaluation.
  • Learn the basics of switch-side debate, including research, case contentions, and refutation.

Mr. Pape

Mr. Pape recently retired from a Liberal Arts college where he taught, coached and won the Pi Kappa Delta national debate championship in four of the last five years.  
As a former NSDA executive and expert, Mr. Pape has conducted writing, speech, debate and communication workshops for K12 and college students for over 25 years.  
He is the curriculum coordinator for the Harvard Debate Summer Workshops in public speaking and debate. Some of the students coached by him have won top national awards in the US and China.
