Course Overview

Young RoboMaster

RoboMaster is an up-rising education brand of DJI, a world-leading company in the commercial drone industry. RoboMaster focuses on providing the early-stage robotics learning experience to students throughout the K-12 education. In this particular Young RoboMaster mini camp, students will learn the basic knowledge of robotics, experience the fun parts of programming the robot and explore the capabilities of the RoboMaster EP with a physical maze as an ultimate challenge.

Young Trader

This class will introduce children to the concept of stock ownership and trading. Students will learn why investors would want to own stocks, and what are the different forces which make stock prices change. They then learn how do perform basic stock analysis using fundamental and technical methods.
By the end of the class, students will be comfortable knowing how to buy and sell stocks, and will have developed a better understanding of why some stocks go up while others go down.

Kid Fun Ted Talk

Thousands of TED Talks are created every year for audiences in the millions. In this intensive five-day course, students will develop their own TED Talks and present them. Students will offer criticism of TED Talks viewed in class as well as those of their classmates. Professor Pape has given a TED Talk and has coached TED speakers. His curriculum in public speaking and argumentation at Harvard's summer workshops includes a TED Talk Tournament. We can't wait to work with you!

Learning Outcome

Young RoboMaster

  • Understand the basic mechanism and controlling of a robot.
  • Intro-level of programming, understand the communication between the software and the hardwares.
  • Programming experience and critical thinking with the pracities on RoboMaster Simulator.
  • Explore the self-interest of robotics and engineering.

Young Trader

  • Students will apply fundamental principles of public speaking as to the development of TED Talks.
  • Students will research, outline, and deliver a TED Talk on a topic of their choosing.
  • Students will critique professional TED Talks and those of their classmates.

Raymond Mathis

Mr. Raymond Mathis is a private equity manager with Tati NY, Inc., an operating company focused on the lodging and hospitality industry. Previously, Raymond was a Portfolio Manager for Spirit of America Investment Funds, a family of equity and fixed income mutual funds. At Spirit of America, he took over Real Estate Income and Growth Fund, in addition to the Large Cap Value Fund, and subsequently launched an Energy Fund and several fixed income funds.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Mathis received many accolades, including being named “Leading Portfolio Manager” by NAREIT’s “REIT Magazine” the largest publicly traded real estate industry group, “Best Performing Real Estate Fund” by Zacks Equity Research, and several “Category Kings” awards from The Wall Street Journal, including top performance for Stock Fund, Sector Fund, and Real Estate Fund categories.

Mr. Mathis began his career as an Analyst at Standard & Poor’s, where he covered companies in the Consumer Discretionary, Financial, Real Estate, and Consumer Staples sectors. In addition to winning the “Best on the Street” award from The Wall Street Journal, he has appeared in print and on television with CNBC, Bloomberg, Wall Street Week, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, CNN, Business Week, BBC, USA Today, New York Times, Crain’s, and the New York Post. Raymond received his MBA in finance from Louisiana State University (New Orleans). Before that, he earned a degree in music from Berklee College of Music, after which he moved to the French Quarter of New Orleans to play jazz for several years.

Deano Pape

-Mr. Pape recently retired from a Liberal Arts college where he taught, coached and won the Pi Kappa Delta national debate championship in four of the last five years.  
 -As a former NSDA executive and expert, Mr. Pape has conducted writing, speech, debate and communication workshops for K12 and college students for over 25 years.  
-He is the curriculum coordinator for the Harvard Debate Summer Workshops in public speaking and debate. Some of the students coached by him have won top national awards in the US and China.
